Rescue Owners Are Rockin’
The first annual, paw-lovin’ BlogPaws conference happened last weekend and with so many great ideas and initiatives gaining legs, I thought now was a great time to get off my butt get this project started!
Ladies and gentlemen, please let me introduce to you my commitment for the next year:
R.O.A.R. Squad: Rescue Owners are Rockin’
What the heck is the R.O.A.R. Squad?
The R.O.A.R. Squad is about banding together the AMAZING rescue owners out there into one, unstoppable, SUPER HERO of a team.
Over the next year I am going to work my butt off to coax/cajole/beg YOU, my fellow rescue animal owners, to send me a photo of you with your rescue animal- be it dog, cat, snake, llama… whatever! (Read more and meet fellow Squad members here).
Over the course of the next year I will post photos of you and your rescue animals from:
every American state
every Canadian province and territory
every category in the the Super Wicked Peeps category (you can see the category here, scroll down)

Every day thousands of people decide to add a pet to their home. And every day people unwittingly support puppy mills by purchasing their pets from pet stores and online- unknowingly keeping these puppy mills in business by buying their “product.”
I want US to put puppy mills out of business.
I want people’s very first thought when they decide to go pet shopping to be to head to their nearest shelter/rescue organization. I want people to KNOW that 9 times out of 10 the animals in pet stores are from puppy mills and to NOT EVEN DREAM of supporting such unethical treatment of animals.
I want US to make adopting a rescue animal THE hippest thing on the block.
I want little girls and little boys to BEG their parents to take them to the SPCA. I want guys who are looking for a Chic Magnet (read: cute dog) to KNOW that the HOTTEST side kick in town comes from a rescue organization (with the understanding that “hot” also equals “forever”). I want young women in their heels and their Prada to know that the MOST FABULOUS accessory around is not an accessory at all but a goofy being with feelings and personality… and comes from the local shelter.
Finding R.O.A.R. Squad members from all across Canada and the States and from all walks of life won’t be easy. But I think we can do it. I KNOW we can do it.
I am so excited to get started!
