R.O.A.R. Squad: Amy and Rod and their dog, Buster
R.O.A.R. SQUAD
Rescue Owners Are Rockin’
This gorgeous trio in front of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC is Amy (human), Buster (black shepherd, he’s the rescue pooch) and Ty (Shar-Pei). I am in love with this photo! A roaring welcome to the R.O.A.R. Squad!
Amy and her husband Rod run GoPetFriendly.com, a website dedicated to planning your vacation with your pet (they have info on 4,000 pet friendly campgrounds and 20,000 hotels and B&B’s across the US and Canada. Holy crap that is a lot of info).
They are currently on the road researching pet friendly accomodation and blog about it here. They are basically livin’ the dream, people. Livin’. The. Dream.
Where: Buster was abandoned on the streets of Philadelphia.
What: German Shepherd.
What else: They found Buster with no collar, no tags, no chip… zip. They rescued him before he had a chance to get into the rescue system (they kept him during the required 10-day waiting period, during which they put up “found” posters and contacted shelters about the lost pup they had provided a comfy cushion for).
Where: Originally from Pennsylvania

I know these three. The fourth Burkert, isn’t quite as attractive as the three in the photo above, but I guess somebody had to take the picture. =P
In all seriousness though, you’ll probably not find better guardians or nicer people than Rod and Amy Burkert! Rock on R.O.A.R Squad! =)
That is one super happy family!
Oooh, I am so bookmarking those sites. We’re always looking for pet-friendly places when we travel. Yay! Love the series, btw.

They look so happy, and what a great website idea! I like this series; it’s so great to see people happily showcased with their dogs. Do you need any inner-city teachers, from Chicago with rescued pitbulls?
@Two Pitties- YES! We DEFinitely need some inner city teachers with their pitties! You guys were kind of who I was thinking of when I put “school teachers” on the “Super Wicked Peeps” list
Can’t wait to hear from you!
Congrats!!!!
