R.O.A.R. Squad: Rescue Owners Are Rockin’
Our latest R.O.A.R. Squad members are sailors! Laura and Hans have a sailboat charter company (from Lauren: Hans is a certified captain, and I’m just certifiable!). They have a grunting yet affectionate pit bull, and a timid kitty- how awesome would it be to sail with those seaworthy companions! Laura blogs for Sew at Sea.
Ahoy, welcome t’ the R.O.A.R. Squad! A pence for an old man o’de sea? (You know. Cuz they’re sailors. Kind of like pirates, maybe? No? Never mind…)
Tough start: Wilbur got his name because he grunts like a little pig, but it’s not his fault. At 11 weeks of age Wilbur was adopted out for back yard breeding purposes and left in a laundry room with his future mate; an already pregnant pit bull, who understandably, wasn’t feeling too friendly. The pregnant pitty tried to kill poor Wilbur, and she ended up doing some pretty extensive damage to his head and throat. Does anyone out there sleep with someone who snores? It’s nothing compared to this snorty guy!
Daughterly Intervention: Euthanasia was recommended because Wilbur’s original owners did not want to pay for the life saving services the little guy needed. But the receptionist talked the owners into handing the pup over to her, and somehow he ended up with us (not that my daughter The Vet Tech had anything to do with it!).
Ahoy, sailin’ off int’ the sunset: This June, Wilbur will be heading out to sea with me and Hans as we sail our way up the Atlantic to places such as Cape Cod, and Nantucket!
