R.O.A.R. Squad: Cate and her cat, Poppet (Milly pictured below)

Cate, along with her husband Martin, are the founders of BlanketID, which are ID tags for your pet. From their website:

Milly rockin' her BlanketID tag.

In addition to providing a great looking ID tag for your pet, we deliver a seriously effective solution to the problem of losing a pet. Regardless of how your pet gets lost, we strive to make sure that they get home safely and quickly.

Now that is a very worthy product! AND a portion of the sale of every ID tag goes to the Blanket Fund for Animals, which distributes funds to animals orgs in the geographic areas in which the funds were raised. So, basically Cate and Martin are awesome. Welcome to the R.O.A.R. Squad guys! (you can check out their blog at Under the Blanket

The Kitties: Poppet (5 years) and Milly (6 years), domestic shorthair tabby cats

All About Milly: Milly came from the Victoria Pet Adoption Society. She had been found very skinny with kittens and was super-scared. After a very long stay with the Society we brought her home with us. She sat in her bed in the corner of the spare room for three full months while we earned her trust. She never dared to leave that corner until we were asleep, but then she would investigate her new home and play with her toys. Finally, one day, after hearing Poppet she came out and never went back into her little corner. We think she is now the happiest cat and never stops chattering!

All About Poppet: Poppet was found very ill with just about everything an abandoned cat could possibly have. She was nurtured back to health by Dee’s Orphan Kitten Fund; she’s very healthy now, but snores very loudly! She thinks Milly is her Mum and really helped Milly to settle into our home. She is a very pretty cat and was in high demand at Dee’s- we really had to plead to get her! From the moment Poppet and Milly touched noses they have never had a hiss!

Chatterbox: Milly is a talker and answers me everytime I speak to her…and I swear you can almost have a conversation. She likes to hide in places and just spring out on you and runs off talking. Milly is Poppets hero and Poppet looks at her in awe even though she is now twice Milly’s size. Milly has her own place on the couch and will sit and stare at you until you move. She will then swear at you a little under her breath, for being in her way.

Namesake: Poppet copies everything Milly does and is not sure why she is doing it. Her obsession with being under blankets or under/in everything helped with naming my blog “Under the Blanket.”

I love Cate and the Blanket ID company! I’m so happy to finally put a face to the name 🙂 I’m dying over the photos of Pop and Mills. So adorable.

  2. It’s nice to finally see your face, Cate!!

  3. I like the part about Milly being a “talking cat”; I’d love to hear a cat who talks.

Milly and Poppet are two extremely successful rescue stories. Those are two cats that needed extreme love and attention from their humans to start feeling safe again, and Cate and Martin were just the people to pamper them back to feeling safe and sound. Cate and Martin can go on about these two for hours and all you have to do is see the looks on the kitties faces to know that they’re loved. And their company blanketID isn’t just about business, it’s also about truly bettering the lives of animals. I love knowing the company that puts the tags on my kitties necks is run by such honorable people.
