The Pup: 9 year old Kelly, a long haired dachshund/cocker spaniel mix
About Peggy: I love to write about dogs. I’m lucky I get to write for publications such as Guideposts magazine, Chicken Soup for the Soul, etc. Kelly inspires so many of my stories, like the time she chased after ducks in the lake and we had to rescue her in a rowboat. She also inspires me when I’m working, because she reminds me to get up from my desk and take a break, and to get outside and take her on a walk and get some exercise (check out Peggy’s blog at Peggy’s Pet Place and her website).
Full Nest: When faced with the empty nest at home, I decided to fill it with a rescue pup!
They Make a Great Team: Kelly and I joined forces to motivate each other to lose weight. I lost 40 lbs and she lost 6lbs! Kelly likes to perch on narrow ledges and the back of the sofa like a cat. When I’m sitting on the couch, she’ll jump up and perch on the back and curl around my neck like a scarf. (A big hairy scarf!)
