R.O.A.R. Squad: Ashleigh and Morgan and their cats, Rodrigo and Elena

A huge welcome to Ashleigh and Morgan to the R.O.A.R. Squad!

Ashleigh is a busy woman. She runs two businesses, she volunteers and she keeps after her two curious cats. I don’t want to embarass her, but after doing a bit of snooping I’ve discovered that Ashleigh was awarded the Texas Business Hall of Fame Scholarship in 2009 and in 2010 won the Marketing Excellence Award from the American Marketing Association!

Learn more about Ashleigh and Morgan’s gorgeous Siamese cats (including Elena’s “Help Me!” poster) and see all kinds of beautiful photos after the jump.

Thank you so much for joining the R.O.A.R. Squad!

Rockin’ Rescue Owners: Ashleigh & Morgan Davis

Siamese Twins (not really): Rodrigo and Elena

About Ashleigh: Ashleigh runs Ashford Davis, an online marketing solutions agency. She is also partner in design company Maihar Design with her sister (I am quite enamoured with their flower hair petals). Ashleigh manages the @DaisyCares Twitter account (DaisyCares is a non-profit created to provide pet food and medical care to needy pets by providing assitance to their owners) and she volunteers with Gulu Hope, an organization which provides assistance in Africa to individuals returing home from Internally Displaced Persons Camps.

Just the Four of Us: My husband and I have been married 2.5 years. We found Rodrigo 18 months before we got married, and adopted Elena 3 months after we got married. It’s just the four of us right now. I run two businesses and currently operate from home, so my cats spend most of the day sleeping on my desk (see ‘Catsputer’).

Rodrigo. And his foot.

A Dog Person Until Meow: Rodrigo was found as a 6-week old kitten in the bushes outside my apartment. I heard a kitten crying, but didn’t know where it was coming from. This lasted about 5-6 hours. I finally went outside for a fourth time and discovered a woman and a paraplegic Chihuahua that helped me rescue the kitten from the bushes (this part of the story is amusing because this woman is crawling in the bushes as her paraplegic dog starts rolling down the grassy slope. I tried to grab the dog, who starts growling and nearly bites me… meanwhile the poor kitten in the bushes is still crying for help). So here I am suddenly with a cat. As a dog person, I freaked out not knowing what to do. I tried to give the kitten to a shelter, but no one was accepting any animals. Within 48 hours I was hooked, and little Rodrigo was akin to a little parrot, sleeping on my shoulder all weekend long. He had me at “meow.”

Rodrigo the Mama’s Boy: Rodrigo is a mama’s boy. He follows me everywhere around the house – me and my shadow.

Special Gift: Elena was rescued by a couple who was kayaking on a local river. They heard a kitten crying and moments later saw a little furball, soaking wet, clinging to a log. The kayakers gave the kitten to a coworker of my sister’s, who was seeking a forever home for the kitten (see flyer). My sister knew I was looking for another Siamese (female) and sure enough, we took Elena home a few days later. We now have two crazy, beautiful Siamese who were our rescue kitties – sent to us as special gifts.

That cat is winking at me, isn't she?

Elena the Wild Child: Elenas is the wild one – I guess you would be, too, if you were rescued clinging to a log. Her rescue story is pure evidence of her ability to always get into trouble – from tearing up the carpet to scaling the window blinds.

Where: Texas

  1. Kari says:

heehee catsputer… Im not a cat person but those guys are cute 🙂

  2. Looks like you already have my state covered, but I’m a huge fan of the squad!

  3. I love how they converted you from being a dog-person. They are super cute, and probably not anything like those cats in the Disney movie.
