R.O.A.R. Squad: Charlotte and Ron and their dogs, Schatzi, Oskar and Xena

A very warm welcome to our latest R.O.A.R. Squad members: Charlotte and Ron from Prince Edward Island!

Charlotte and Ron have done a lot for rescue and are proud Foster Failures (I love foster failure stories!).

Welcome to the R.O.A.R. Squad, you guys! Read more about this wonderful family after the jump.

To learn more about the R.O.A.R Squad (Rescue Owners Are Rockin!), or if you would like to be profiled, all the info you need is HERE. A special shout out to the fabulous folks in New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Nunavut, and Idaho. These are the last states, provinces and territories we need-  we really need you!

Rockin’ Rescue Owners: Charlotte & Ron Estabrooks (check out Charlotte’s blog at Luv My Dachshunds!)

Gorgeous Pups: Schatzi, Oskar & Xena

Owned by Dachshunds: My husband & I have been owned by dachshunds for almost 9 years.  As an member with rescue, firstly a volunteer with Canadian Dachshund Rescue and currently a member of Tiny Paws Dog Rescue, doxies have been our passion since we obtained Schatzi, our 9 year old black & tan girl as a puppy.  She is my heart… where I end… Schatzi begins.

Ying & Yang: We adopted Oskar 8 years ago, through Almost Home Dachshund Rescue… a group of dedicated volunteers who work mostly in the U.S.  Oskar (previously named Pupster) is a pie-bald & came to us from New Hampshire, after a two day transport via volunteer drivers.  We motored to Calais, Maine where we met with the final leg of his journey to take him home with us.  He & Schatzi are like ying & yang… he is dominant… she is submissive… so they became friends quickly.

Fostering 101: Xena, our soon to be 13 year old, started out as our foster and is a wire-hair dachshund.  Originally, she came into rescue with her Mother (they were 8 & 10 years old at the time) as a “bonded” pair.  The rescue quickly determined they were not bonded & chose to separate them.  Mercedes (Xena’s Mom) was adopted to a wonderful home, where she shares her life with Larry, her Pom brother.  Xena…well… she never left… I guess we failed Fostering 101!  She fits perfectly  in our “pack”.

Like Potato Chips… But Even Better: I guess the saying  “Dachshunds are like potato chips… you can’t have just one,” was written for us!
