Shelley’s dog Nisha didn’t have a great beginning, but she now enjoys the kind of cozy life she deserves with Shelley, Shelley’s husband and Nisha’s sister, Allie.

To learn more about the R.O.A.R Squad (Rescue Owners Are Rockin!), or if you would like to be profiled, all the info you need is HERE. A special shout out to the fabulous folks in New Brunswick and Newfoundland. These are the last provinces we need- we really need you!
Gorgeous Pup: Nisha- she is a black/ blue Afghan Hound, who is 6 yrs old.
Appreciative Afghan: She was rescued out of New Mexico about 2 yrs ago from a breeder who had 67 of them living in her house, she had become ill and asked rescues to come in and help. Nisha had had several litters before being rescued and spayed! She is the most loving, calm, sensible Afghan ever. I truly believe that rescued dogs really appreciate their new owners and life- she is now able to lay around and be a couch potato instead of having the job of raising puppies.
Afghan Rescue of Central Ohio: She was shipped out of New Mexico along with several others to Afghan Rescue of Central Ohio (AHRCO), while their she was fostered, shaved, vetted and spayed before I received her. AHRCO is a WONDERFUL rescue group run by Maureen Anderson, each year they have a reunion picnic in Columbus where all the rescues meet and picnic together so that they can all stay in touch and fosters can revisit with their rescued hounds! I am proud to be associated with this group. Although I live in Kentucky I am lucky to be close enough to be a member- only bordering states to Ohio can rescue from this association because they do follow up on each dog and make sure that they’re being taken care of like they deserve!
The Best Spot: Nisha loves to sleep in bed with my husband and I- she only gets that spot if she beats our other Afghan, Allie (not adopted) up to the bedroom- if Nisha gets there first she claims her spot and there is no moving her from it. If Allie get there first she is easily moved but not Nisha! She doesn’t care if you shove your legs underneath her, she is not budging until morning!!!
