I was a single dancer/backpacker/student living in Toronto, Melbourne, Tokyo and Amsterdam… and then I met my husband, moved to an island off the westcoast of Canada, got married, got a mortgage, and added two dogs to the mix.

This blog is my take on what that is like. This post covers the highlights.

My name is Shauna, my husband’s name is John and I have two dogs (Mickey (chihuahua x) and Kayloo (pittie/collie/australian mix of some kind)). I blog about all three of those guys… a lot. Like, a LOT. I also post lots of photos because that is how I roll.

I started this blog in June 2009- my first post was a photo of Mickey on his first day as part of our family. As I recall there was a lot of puking that day (Mickey was puking, not me). I didn’t post those photos.

I decided on the name “Fido & Wino” because I love both (but not in a weird or alcoholic way, honest). I could have just as easily called the blog Jeans & Beans or Berries & Fairies, but I like words that end in “o.” And Jeans & Beans sounds really stupid.

Helping rescue animals is da bomb. I love raspberries.

R.O.A.R. Squad

The R.O.A.R. Squad ran from April 2010 to April 2011. It stands for Rescue Owners Are Rockin’ and the Grand Master Plan there was to highlight how incredibly COOL inviting rescue animals into your home is. I found people from every province in Canada and every state in the U.S.A. in addition to a whole slew of people in the Super Wicked Peeps categories. It was such a fun project, thank you to everyone for your support and participation!
