kayloo vs. the scary bridge

During our anniversary hike we came across a creek. And much to Kayloo’s intense chagrin, the only way to get across that creek was over a long, perfectly trustworthly albeit wobbly suspension bridge. Mickey hunkered down and did his best to flatten his tiny body against the foot boards. With the help of wild hand clapping and [...]

pit bull waiting for thai

This is Kayloo in silhouette. We had thai take-out on Saturday. While we were waiting we sat on the concrete in the sun and Kayloo did her best Pit bull impression. She kissed many passersby.

scrappy little guy

Mickey really is such a scrappy little guy. I’ve been finding that with my new camera I’m taking more pictures of Mickey because it is fast enough to catch him. With my point and shoot a lot of the shots are Sleeping Mickey Shots (like this one and this one) because he doesn’t stay still for very long (damnit).

cute denied

John, the dogs and I went for a really long walk last Sunday. Before we headed out we stopped at a taco stand so John could fuel up authentic, spicy goodness. Mickey was staring at me because he desperately wanted to weasle under the table beside us and scarf down the smushed piece of lettuce [...]

a title she deserves

We meet a lot of people on our walks together. About a week and a half ago the dogs and I amble along the harbour on our walk before dinner. It is calm. It is dark. The water is like glass. We walk past the man who is always there with his metal stool and his red and [...]

incredibly sweet

I took this shot on our walk yesterday. He is crouched down taking her photo with the ocean framing her in the background. I think their rapport is incredibly sweet.  Happy Valentine’s Day, wonderful people. May the only way you capture your loved ones be in a photo frame and that you wish them free in every other [...]

humble pie

I took my dogs to the vet a couple days ago and she suggested that Mickey could stand to lose 1 pound (he is just under 20 lbs right now).* Oh dear. I am the one who wrote, Your Dog is a Fatso. How is that for choking down a great big piece of humble pie? [...]

thank you for your honesty

There is a flower cart along the route of one of our walks: The flowers are there and if you would like some you just help yourself and put your money in the box provided. Isn’t that amazing? I love evidence of unfettered trust.

in symmetry

We went walking through the mud this weekend. It doesn’t snow much here, but it certainly rains. We rolled up the cuffs of our jeans, put on our (mostly) waterproof hiking boots and set off in hopes of finding cover from the rain under the forest canopy. We brought part of the forest home in [...]

simple complexity

Nature is fascinating. I took this photo on THIS walk with the dogs.
